Greyson Week 4

So this week has been mostly spent finishing up a number of my projects. I've been writing reports, guides, proposals, and learning how operations work around the plant so that I can integrate the new practices I'm proposing. Its been a fun time meeting different people around the plant and learning how the company tracks how well the plant is operating. In our afternoons we've still been going to he pub after work for free beers and Nozomi and Rudy have made some friends to play pool with most days. Since Im not a big pool player I've been talking with different people while they play and we've met some really fun people. This week has been a fun little wrap up of all of my different projects, and was supposed to be the last week we spent at the Rosslyn Plant, but after reaching out to various people involved with our program we managed to get an additional week here. We thought that getting another week getting experience at the plant would be better than a week in the office. So during the next week Ill be working on the freezing part of the plant, which will be a fun parallel to my work in the heating processes.

This weekend we went to the lion and safari park, which was really cool. The park was closer to a zoo than an actual safari, but the animals are mostly in larger enclosures that we then drove through in our safari jeep. So while the animals are kept in containment, its much more humane than a regular zoo. We went on the special 3 hour safari where we got to drive though a enclosures with lions, cheetahs, wild dogs, and leopards, as well as one big enclosure that had all the non predator animals. It was a really cool experience and we got to see a lot of animals close up. Some of the animals were really interesting to learn about like one of the lions who was apparently a lot smarter than the others and was the first lion to learn how to open car doors. We also got to stop off by this polluted but otherwise nice looking river where we got to have snacks and drinks, getting some jerky and sandwiches.

After the tour we got to go pet lion cubs, see some giraffes being fed, and then explored a bit further through the park where we found some small enclosures that included a number of small mammals like porcupines and meerkats. We then went to this local bar called Kearnys which was an Irish Italian pub where we got some pizzas, beer, and Nozomi and Rudy played pool against some locals while I chatted with a internet salesman and a local mechanical engineer. It was really fun and the people we met were super nice. Because of all the cool stuff we saw, there are way too many pictures to put on here, so instead here's a link to all of the pictures on Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/14dZUWr-0VcnF-hg1sDn79bqTa5E4EySC?usp=sharing
